UN VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME
The UN Volunteer Programme for Korean nationals is financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Korea and implemented by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme. This initiative provides
professionals with the opportunity to offer their services to developing countries for a 12 to 24
month period, and to impact on development results on the ground. Participants share their
knowledge and skills, broaden peer networks and gain international exposure and experience within
the United Nations system.
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through
volunteerism worldwide. In 2016, UNV deployed 6,590 UN Volunteers in 126 countries.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Candidates must hold a university degree or higher degree diploma.
Professional experience: Candidates possess at least two years of relevant work experience in a
professional background.
Languages: Fluency in at least one of the three UNV working languages: English, French and Spanish.
The language requirements vary according to the country of assignment; the information is specified
in each Description of Assignment (DoA).

All Interested candidates are encouraged to indicate any internationally accepted English standard
test (e.g. TOEFL / TEPS) in their application under ‘Additional Remarks’. If another language is
required as per the DoA, candidates are encouraged to indicate in their application certificates
received in that language.

Closing date: Profiles of interested applicants must be fully registered in the UNV Talent Pool of
candidates no later than 8 October 2017.
WHAT IS NEXT – SELECTION PROCESS
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the UNV programme. The final selection will be
done by the UN Host Agency at the level of the country of assignment. Most UN Agencies conduct
competency based Skype or phone interviews.
