theories and their application methods based on the Christian spirit and

3. Key Information
In May 1954, American Missionary, Dr. Charles D. Stokes Founded Mokwon University.

As Mokwon University is the very first private university in Daejeon, we are under
❍
supervision of Korea’s Ministry of Education based on Private School Act. With
the founding philosophy of “Truth·Love·Service” we contribute to the national
development by training outstading individuals in cultural art and education field,
who will involve in country and human society.
Daejeon was promoted to the central city in 1988 as the center of administration,
❍
culture, and economy in the central region and renamed as Daejeon Metropolitan
City in 1995, following the implementation of the local autonomy system. The
Daedeok Research Complex, which has been established since 1974, has become
center of Korea’s science and technology, which supported Daejeon to become
“City of Science”. Moreover, in 1998, with the opening of the Daejeon
Government Complex (10 other government agencies including the National
Statistical Office and the Public Procurement Service were relocated) Daejeon
became an administrative city.
Mokwon University’s Graduate School includes three different departments :

General Studies, Industrial Information and Press, and Theology. Total of 84
majors from Master’s degree and 43 majors from the Doctorate degree.
Based on the Christian Spirit and the Educational Ideology of the Republic of

Korea, we research academic theory and its application methods profoundly, and
aims to contribute to the development of human society by cultivating leadership
personality and creative ability.
We gurantee on-campus dormitory occupancy to the GKS students, and we also

subsidize a part of the dormitory expenses.
