CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
International Centre of Martial Arts for Youth Development and Engagement
under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO ICM) is a UNESCO Category 2
Centre which is established through a signed agreement between the
Government of the Republic of Korea and UNESCO.
The 2024 ICM MODEL UNESCO CONFERENCE (2024 ICM
MUNESCO) which will be held from the 26th to the 29th of September aims to
cultivate creative ideas of youth in achieving the SDGs and share
them with relevant stakeholders. At the same time, 2024 ICM MUNESCO
targets to uild capacity of the participating youth by exposing them to more
international settings while applying the UNESCO Rules of Procedure
ICM looks forward to active participation of those who are interested in the
activities of the UNESCO, sport, and related global agenda.

2024 ICM MUNESCO OVERVIEW
Topic: Sport as a tool for sustainable development: the adoption of the Fit for
Life Alliance and its key areas of intervention
Dates: 26 September ~ 29 September 2024
Main location: Chungju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, Republic of Korea
Participants: 40 graduate and undergraduate students (excluding the
members of secretariat)

APPLICATION GUIDELINE
Number of selectees: 10
Eligibility
Undergraduate and graduate students residing in the Republic of Korea
(including exchange students, students enrolled in language
school/institutes, and those taking a leave of absence) or ones willing to
travel to Korea at their own expenses, open to all nationalities
Function(s)
Pre-conference
Each member of secretariat will lead team activities assigned
according to his or her preferred Fit for Life key area of intervention
Conference
First two days, each member of the secretariat will continue to lead the
team discussion. Then the secretariat will be divided into two
functions; first, chairing the conference; and operations support in the
venue.
Besides the above, the members of the secretariat will work with the
organiser for the conference preparation once they get selected.
Signed Benefits: Free participation (including meals and accommodations
and KRW 100,000 daily allowance during the conference (total KRW
400,000 from 26 to 29 September), souvenir package, participation
certificate (all confirmed) + chance of work experience (to be decided)

Participant requirements
Must have advanced English skills
Must be committed to the 2024 MUNESCO and attend the whole
programme (including preparatory team activities, orientaion session,
and the conference)
Capable enough to lead the delegates for their team activities based on Fit
for Life key areas of intervention
Preferred candidate(s)
Those who have experience in similar events
Those who have deeper understanding on UNESCO and its Fit for Life
initiative, sport for development and peace, physical education, sport
poicy, SDGs
Those who are academically excellent and have advanced writing skills
Those who could add more sense of diversity to the programme

ICM values the protection and privacy of the applicant’s personal information in
accordance with the related law, the Personal Information Protection Act. Please
carefully read the information below.
Purpose of collection and use of personal information
ICM Model UNESCO Conference (ICM MUNESCO) collects the minimum
mandatory personal information of the application of the programme for the
following purposes; personal identification, personal administration,
programme registration and providing information of the programme and
marketing materials, etc.
Items to be collected
Personal information: name, gender, nationality, contact number, email
address, address, emergency contact information
Educational background: language school/institute/university name, major,
status of enrollment, year attended
Language skills: English and Korean language skills and test results
Optional Items: all other items except mandatory items
Retention and use period of personal information
In case of the selected participants, collected personal information will be
kept and used for 1 year for the purposes of issuing transcripts and certificate
and academic affairs.
The personal information of those who are not selected as final participants
will be discarded immediately after the summer school finishes
Rights to disagree and its disadvantage
The applicant has the right to disagree with the purpose of collection and use
of personal information. However, if the applicants disagree, he/she shall be
restricted from applying for admission to the ICM GYMAA.

Oath of Good Conduct
Obey all ICM regulations and maintain the honor of both my University and
country during the programme
Take personal responsibility for my safety and health, while giving priority to
following the academy’s safety rules and guidelines. I will immediately let the
representatives of the centre know if I have related symptoms (fever, etc) before or
during the programme and comply with the checks and instructions given by the
centre.

Follow and obey all the laws of the Republic of Korea including its laws and
regulations regarding immigration, alcohol, drug usage and sexual harassment.
